This course is part of a training module of our full Level 3 Domestic Electrical Installer (Dwellings) which is a full Requlated Qualification. This course is suitable as stand alone Contined Professional Development (CPD) for operatives such as OFTEC or Gas Safe Registered engineers working within the electrical or related industries to enhance their electrical skills and knowledge along with the relevant Health and Safety aspects of working on, or with, electrical installations and equipment.

Candidates will undergo theoretical and practical training sessions. This course is recommended for candidates who already have core Health & Safety & related trade experience but who have no previous formal training in domestic wiring. Candidates will carry out simulations in training bays with a fully qualified trainer and gain the confidence in physical wiring activities from the consumer unit to sockets, lighting, fire alarm, boilers etc. found around the average home. The DEI course covers all areas that have been updated or changed since the introduction of the BS7671:2018 the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
The DEI is suitable for operatives who carry out electrical work as a secondary task i.e. heating installers, bathroom and kitchen fitter’s, builders and domestic appliance fitters / installers
The Domestic Electrical Installer (DEI2020) Training and Assessment package covers electrical work as outlined in the Building Regulation and complies with BS7671:2018 and amendment 1:2020.
This course is designed for persons/installers working within the electrical or related industries it is not designed to take a non-qualified / non-related person and is not designed to make them into electricians
NB: From 1st September 2021 the qualification entry requirements for companies or businesses wishing to join a Part P Competent Person Scheme (CPS) as a “Qualified Supervisor” will be changing. The relevant change is for the designated qualifying supervisor (QS). In a larger organisation, the QS will be responsible for the competence and work of all installers carrying out electrical installations. Sole traders are both the QS and installer.
The Qualified Supervisor must hold as minimum LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installation Work in Dwellings
For larger businesses, the DEI qualification can still be used for operatives who are under the direction of the qualifying supervisor. Sole traders must comply with the qualification entry requirement detailed above.
