Portable Appliance Testing - City & Guilds 2377-77

Level 3 Award in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) are qualifications aimed at those with administrative responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment. It also allows those with an administrative responsibility for the testing and inspection of electrical equipment to gain a qualification suitable to their job role.

  • Course overview

    CCTS City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT) course allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required to test portable electrical appliances with the code of practice for in-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical equipment. If you already work as an electrician it will add another string to your bow and can help you move up in the Industry.

    This product has been developed in collaboration with the major stakeholders within the Electrotechnical industry the primary being the IET.

  • Entry Requirements

    There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification but it is recommended that candidates should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical or a related industry. Candidates should Get in Touch for further advice and guidance on suitability to undertake the qualification. This qualification is aimed at those with responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment. It allows those with the responsibility for the testing and inspection of electrical equipment to gain a qualification suitable to their job role

  • Do I need this course?

    The qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required to inspect and test items of electrical equipment in line with the latest edition of the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. If you already work as an electrician it will add another string to your bow and can help you move up in the industry.

    Learners completing the qualification will have the ability to carry out mandatory responsibilities within the workplace depending on their prior electrical knowledge.

     

     

  • Course content/Syllabus
    • The learner will understand the statutory and non-statutory requirements relevant to electrical equipment maintenance.
    • The learner will understand electrical units, circuits, components and definitions associated with in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
    • The learner will understand how equipment construction and classification reduces the risk of electric shock.
    • The learner will understand the procedures for the in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
    • The learner will understand why and how to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
    • The learner will understand the information relating to in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
    • The learner will understand the responsibilities and training requirements for personnel associated with the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
    • The learner will be able to inspect and test items of electrical equipment

    Please Note: Your exam will take place at the end of the course.     We will provide all the reading material required. However you may consider purchasing the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical equipment (4th Edition)
