• Course overview

  CCTS City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT) course allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required to test portable electrical appliances with the code of practice for in-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical equipment. If you already work as an electrician it will add another string to your bow and can help you move up in the Industry.

  

• Entry Requirements

  There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification but it is recommended that candidates should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical or a related industry. Candidates should Get in Touch for further advice and guidance on suitability to undertake the qualification

• Do I need this course?

  This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their knowledge for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment in the UK. It is based primarily on BS7671:2008 (Amendment 1: 2011) 17^th Edition Wiring Regulations and the NEW IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 4^th Edition

  The qualification provides under pinning knowledge to comply with current legislation and the new requirements laid out in this new code of practice.

• Course content/Syllabus
  • The learner will understand the statutory and non-statutory requirements relevant to electrical equipment maintenance.
  • The learner will understand electrical units, circuits, components and definitions associated with in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • The learner will understand how equipment construction and classification reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • The learner will understand the procedures for the in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • The learner will understand why and how to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • The learner will understand the information relating to in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • The learner will understand the responsibilities and training requirements for personnel associated with the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • The learner will be able to inspect and test items of electrical equipment
