This course is an Approved Prior learning programme (APL) based on the Oftec OFT50 syllabus which meets the requirements of Criteria document R576 (update November 2018).
CCTS Approved Prior Learning (APL) introductory OFTEC Oil Fired Managed learning programme is aimed at new entrants to the oil fired heating industry and is based on the OFT50 Syllabus. The programme is accepted as a suitable pre-requisite (see R576 Update October 2023 Category 3 ) for those wishing to move on to complete the main OFT101 training and assessments: The course involves practical Real Work Evidence (RWE) and theory. Learners will be working on a wide range of fully operational oil fired boiler appliances under the guidance of an OFTEC approved Instructor.
The main aim of the course is to ensure that the delegate has a solid background and enough practical knowledge in oil to perform the everyday tasks as a competent oil operative. This course is designed to give more intensive and detailed practical training than the standard courses offered, which are aimed at experienced operatives
Successful completion of the programme allows learners to register and complete: -
Applicants in this category are regarded as new to the oil industry, and do not hold any national qualifications in a related field nor have any related work experience. Application conditions for this category require that the Category 3 applicant may either:
• Obtain experience with an OFTEC registered business which is willing to provide an auditable extended oil training programme incorporating both On and Off the Job components with organisational support prior to the applicant taking OFTEC assessment. Evidence of the contents of the programme detailing the Off the Job training and On the Job experience must be presented to the AC as above
AND
• Undertake a training programme (OFT50) at an OFTEC approved training centre, which is planned, managed and organised by the training centre.
All new entrants to the oil fired heating industry need to undertake this introductory course in order qualify for registration on the OFTEC Assessments OFT10-101. Candidates may alternatively choose to obtain experience with an OFTEC registered business which is willing to provide an auditable extended oil training programme incorporating both On and Off the Job components with organisational support prior to the applicant taking OFTEC assessment. Evidence of the contents of the programme detailing the Off the Job training and On the Job experience must be presented to our Assessor as above
CCTS will provide training manuals for reference during the course. There is no requirement to purchase manuals for this course, however you can purchase OFTEC training manuals to help you study. You will be required to have Manuals for your first inspection when you join the OFTEC Scheme. Manuals can be purchased at the centre.
