Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice for engineers on maintaining ACS qualifications

HSE/Gas Safe has stated:-

"If engineers take all reasonable steps to update their expired ACS certification as soon as possible, and continue to work safely, HSE will permit registered gas engineers to remain on the Register for an additional period during the peak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures."

Engineers may be required to demonstrate that they have taken reasonable steps to renew their qualifications. If your ACS qualifications are expiring we will accept a provisional booking in line with our terms and conditions. This provisional booking will provide you with the evidence you need to assure Gas Safe Register that you have taken reasonable action to renew and they have assured us that they will maintain your Gas Safe Registration

This is a temporary measure and does not remove the standing requirement for registered gas engineers to maintain their ACS certification and renew certification every 5 years.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice for engineers on maintaining OFTEC qualifications

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are advising technicians that if the re-assessment they had booked has been cancelled and there is not an alternative venue, they should email us urgently or call us on 01473 626 298 option 1 (UK) or 01 864 5771 option 1 (ROI). They should also keep hold of any paperwork associated with the course booked as they may require this at a later date. We are allowing, for the next 3 months, re-registration to continue for those who cannot access re-assessment, and the situation will be monitored again at the end of this 3-month period.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice from RGII for Irish gas engineers on maintaining DGA Asssessments

Domestic Gas Assessment renewals

Recently RGII wrote to all RGIs who require re-assessment. RGII have also been in close contact with us and we have confirmed there is capacity for the numbers to complete their assessment this year once restrictions are lifted. We encourage RGIs to book their courses as soon as is possible to avoid any problems with re-registering in 2021 during the peak winter heating season in December/January. RGII will be communicating with these RGIs through email, SMS and website updates in the coming weeks and months. We ask all RGIs keep RGII up to date with their contact details.

 Advice for Staff

Employees should not attend Work unless you have been contacted and advised to. It is our intention to furlough each employee instead of laying you off. Under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, we will be able to access support to continue paying our employees’ salary instead of you being laid off during this crisis. You will be contacted directly to consult you in relation to this. We are assured that our businesses will receive government grants worth up to 80% of wages to keep workers in jobs. The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will pay up to £2,500 per worker each month, helping those who are self-isolating or caring for loved ones. This scheme will be open from Monday 23 March. It is our intention to keep our Furloughed staff up to date with CPD & Training, employees will receive 100% of Salary for training over their fulough period. This will be reviewed every 3 weeks
