  • Course Overview

    The 2391-52 online course teaches you the full inspection & testing process, lets you study remotely at your own pace, and requires you to attend an approved centre only for the final exams. It is aimed at experienced electricians who need the industry-standard qualification for signing off electrical work and producing EICRs.


    What the Online Course Includes

    • Full theory training online Access for up to 6 months, mobile-friendly, self-paced learning.

    • Initial Verification

    • Periodic Inspection & Testing

      • Assessing existing installations

      • Producing EICRs

    • Legislation & standards BS 7671 requirements, safe isolation, testing before/after energisation.

    • Understanding test results Interpreting measurements, identifying defects, coding observations.

  • Entry Requirements

    Candidates must be 18 or over and would be expected that candidates are Level 2 or above qualified and practicing Electricians and understanding of electrical science and principles and experience of electrical installation work either within the electrical contracting industry or an allied trade. It is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going onto other City &Guilds qualifications. The qualification is also suitable for those with limited experience of initial inspection and periodic inspection of electrical installations, such as those entering the industry from other engineering disciplines or who have been working in allied trades. This qualification prepares candidates for the initial verification and periodic inspection of electrical installation work.

  • Do I need this course?

    You only need the City & Guilds 2391-52 if you want to legally and professionally demonstrate competence in inspection & testing — especially for EICRs, signing off installations, or becoming a Qualified Supervisor (QS) for NICEIC/NAPIT.

    You need it if any of these apply:

    • You want to produce EICRs for customers or landlords

    • You want to sign off your own and others electrical work

    • You want to become a QS for NICEIC/NAPIT

    • You want to show competence for commercial or industrial inspection & testing

    • You want a recognised Level 3 qualification for insurance or compliance


      The training will cover you for the three versions of the same course:-

      2391-50, 2391-51 and 2391-52 are three versions of the same qualification, each covering a different part of inspection & testing.The difference is simple:

      • 2391-50 = Initial Verification (new installations)

      • 2391-51 = Periodic Inspection (existing installations / EICRs)

      • 2391-52 = Both combined (new + existing)

      This is fully supported by CCTS and you can choose to do any of the exams. Please let us know if you want to downgrade. (Please note exam prices are the same)

    Our aim and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) is to achieve successful candidate certification within 30 working days from completion of exams/assessments, receipt of all prerequisite information (e.g. past certificates), and payment in full. Certification is subject to final approval by the relevant Awarding Body External Verifier.

    2. IET Guidance Note 3 – 10th Edition (2026)

    This is the latest GN3, fully updated to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.Includes updates on:

    3. IET On-Site Guide – 9th Edition (2026)

    Updated to align with BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.Includes new topics such as:
