CCTS APL Oil for beginners course (OFT50 Syllabus)  is an introductory oil-heating course for people entering the oil-fired heating industry without relevant qualifications or experience.

It typically provides foundational knowledge and supervised practical experience before progressing to qualifications such as:

• OFT10-101 — servicing and commissioning pressure-jet oil appliances
• OFT10-105E — installing oil-fired appliances
• OFT10-600a — installing and servicing oil tanks and fuel supplies

OFT50 does not by itself qualify you as a fully competent oil-heating technician or permit OFTEC registration. New entrants generally also need documented workplace experience with an OFTEC-registered business, followed by the relevant OFTEC training and assessments.
